Timothy Rich is stepping down as executive director of the Heart of Missouri United Way, the organization announced Tuesday.
Rich will be leaving March 12 to become the president and chief operating officer of the Athens, Texas-based International Technology Development Corporation, a faith-based technology development company that works with startups.
“I have an investment in this company and it is about to explode on a national and global scale with amazing and life-saving products,” Rich said in his resignation letter. “It is a Christian founded ‘Kingdom’ company that will have its own charitable foundation, for which I will have primary responsibility.”
The move comes after three years of decline in fundraising for the Heart of Missouri. In 2014, Rich and his staff raised $2.75 million, or about $750,000 less than they raised in 2011.
