The 136-acre site of a former country club in Prairie Village, Kan., will be converted into a major new park and residential development, organizers announced Thursday.

VanTrust Real Estate, which purchased the former Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club for $4.2 million in 2010, is planning a 75-acre park as the centerpiece of the redevelopment, located in the heart of one of the area’s most in-demand suburbs.

The southern half of the property would consist of two neighborhoods of townhomes, a swath of luxury apartments, a couple of blocks of single-family homes, and a senior living center.

This story was updated to reflect the correct name of the company overseeing the redevelopment project. A previous version of story incorrectly referred to the company as VanTuyl Real Estate.
