Kentucky Senate passes bill barring A-B distribution

The Kentucky Senate signed a bill that could, if signed by Gov. Steve Beshear, force Anheuser-Busch to give up its beer distribution license in the state.

If signed into law, the bill would bar companies from from owning more than one kind of malt beverage license — like a brewer’s license and a distributor’s license.

St. Louis-based A-B, a division of Anheuser-Busch InBev, would potentially have to give up ownership of distributors in Owensboro and Louisville.
