KC event part of effort to draw more women to construction

Representatives from more than a dozen construction trade unions visited with interested individuals Saturday at a Kansas City job fair. The event, which attracted hundreds of attendees, was targeted at women.

Unions, contractors and the city all want to draw more women into the construction trades to meet diversity goals on private and public projects.

Sponsors of Saturday’s event said the crowd, which spilled over into a hallway at the community center where it was held, served as a positive sign of the job market.
