Health insurance exchange signups double in second year

More than 250,000 Missourians signed up for health insurance on the Healthcare.gov website during the 2014-15 open enrollment period, more than doubling the figures reached in the state in its first year, according to data from the Department of Health and Human Services. About 52 percent of Kansas and Missouri enrollees were new; the rest re-enrolled.

According to the data, one in four enrollees in Missouri was between age 55 and 64, making it the largest age group in the state. About 88 percent of enrollees received financial help in the form of tax subsidies.
