United to cut employees at Lambert, KCI as it transfers ramp operations
United Airlines plans to outsource its ramp operations at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, affecting 53 employees, and lay off another 62 employees in a similar move at Kansas City International Airport.
The airline said it needed to transfer ramp operations to an outside vendor “in order to continue to have sustainable financial success.” The change in St. Louis is expected by mid-May.
This follows United’s January announcement that it planned to outsource up to 2,000 jobs at 28 airports nationwide.
