Chesterfield newspaper data firm files for bankruptcy

Newspaper Data Exchange, a Chesterfield-based company that collected information on newspapers for advertisers, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and laid off its staff of 28.

Mark Hawley, Newspaper Data Exchange’s CEO, said the 3-year-old company collected data from 7,100 newspapers and sold it through subscriptions to 24 advertisers. But he said the company couldn’t generate enough revenue to cover infrastructure costs.
