US military ‘wish list’ includes 12 Boeing fighter jets

A “wish list” submitted to Congress this week by the U.S. Military includes a request from the Navy for $1.15 billion to purchase 12 F/A-18 fighter jets from Boeing Co.
Approval of the request could mean extension of production at Boeing’s F/A-18 manufacturing line in St. Louis. The line is currently schedule to go idle in 2017.
U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter sent the annual list to Congress on Monday but said he would not back any of the individual items unless an overall defense budget was approved.
