Bacon business bringing new processing plant to St. Joseph

Daily’s Premium Meats plans to open a new meat processing plant in St. Joseph that the company says will involve an initial capital investment of $41.5 million and employ about 200 people.

Missoula, Mont.-based Daily’s is jointly owned by Triumph Foods and Seaboard Foods. The new plant will further process pork coming from the Triumph Foods plant in St. Joseph, state officials said.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development said it has offered an incentive package contingent upon the company’s ability to meet certain job creation and investment criteria.

The 100,000-square-foot facility is expected to be up and running by May 2016.
