Bloch Foundation gives $11.7 million for Nelson-Atkins renovation

Kansas City’s Bloch Family Foundation will fund an $11.7 million renovation of the city’s Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to house an expanded impressionist and post-impressionist collection.

Work will begin this summer on the project, which is expected to take two years and will enable the museum to showcase 29 works from the personal collection of Henry and Marion Bloch.

The renovation is expected to be completed in 2017 and more than double the number of impressionist and post-impressionist works on display at the Nelson-Atkins.
