Counter to the national trend of decreasing foreclosure filings, Missouri saw the amount of properties facing foreclosure action increase during the first quarter of the year.
The number of properties facing foreclosure increased by 37 percent in the state. Bank repossessions in Missouri also increased by 34 percent, the third-highest rate in the country.
Nationally, foreclosure filings decreased by 8 percent.
Daren Blomquist of real estate information company RealtyTrac attributed some of the foreclosures to lingering cases “finally being flushed out of the foreclosure pipeline.”
