T-Mobile US Inc. added 1.82 million subscribers during the first quarter of the year, the company announced this week. That gives T-Mobile a total of 56.84 million customers and raises questions about whether Sprint Corp., which has been the nation’s No. 3 wireless carrier, will retain its position ahead of No. 4 T-Mobile.
In order to keep its No. 3 spot, Overland Park, Kan.-based Sprint needs to have increased its subscriber count by 907,000 in the first quarter. Sprint will release its quarterly numbers early next week.
The last time it added more than 907,000 customers in any quarter was early 2012.
