Sprint’s network speed and reliability are improving in many markets. But those improvements have come without much advertising in the Overland Park, Kan.-based cell carrier’s hometown.
When Marcelo Claure became the company’s chief executive last August, Sprint advertisements touted “America’s Newest Network.” Claure ordered the ads taken down.
Sprint has moved up in cell network ratings since then, and Claure said the network has shown improvement in the Kansas City metro. Still, he said, more strides need to be made before the company aggressively advertises its network in the area.
“You can’t ask people to support their hometown company until the network is at its best,” he said. “When that happens, you’re going to see us make a huge appeal to the community to support their hometown company.”
