Sprint accelerator graduates second class, plans to broaden focus

As the 10 startups in the 2015 class of Sprint’s Mobile Health Accelerator wrapped up the program at a demo day Thursday, Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure revealed plans to scrap the health-specific focus of the program and open it to mobile startups of all sorts.

Claure also said Sprint plans to raise the program’s profile and reach by putting products created by the accelerator’s companies into the hands of Sprint customers.

That opportunity, he said, should extend beyond the accelerator, too. The CEO expressed a desire for Sprint to help spread the innovation and “cool stuff going on in this city.”
