A $23 million dental clinic set to open in St. Louis on Monday aims to reverse a trend of declining dental health for many area residents.

St. Louis hasn’t had a dental school in close to 25 years, limiting access to dental care for many in the city. But next week Kirksville-based A.T. Still University and Affinia Healthcare will change that, opening a 92-chair clinic that can host 60 dentists at one time.

It’s the culmination of a four-year partnership between A.T. Still and Affinia. Under the deal, A.T. Still will supply third- and fourth-year dental students to work in the clinic, and Affinia will handle administrative functions.
