Emerson to spin off Network Power business

Emerson plans to spin off its Network Power business as a standalone publicly traded company. The move comes as the Ferguson-based company seeks to achieve a “sharper strategic focus,” CEO David Farr said in a statement.

Network Power will offer thermal management, A/C and D/C power, switches and services to the data center and telecommunications industries. The spinoff is expected to be complete by September 2016.

Emerson saw net sales dip 7 percent, to $5.4 billion, during the second quarter of 2015. Network Power sales dropped 9 percent in the same quarter.
