Excel Industries, which manufactures consumer and commercial mowing equipment, plans to open a plant in the Kansas City area that will create 200 jobs.
The company, based in Hesston, Kan., will expand to Edgerton. Excel said in Thursday’s announcement that the facility will initially include warehousing and distribution space and eventually will be used for manufacturing an existing product line.
Excel said it considered several cities, including Nashville, Indianapolis and Oklahoma City, before selecting the sprawling 1,500-acre Logistics Park in south Johnson County.
Other details about the expansion were not available.
