Ford tabs new supplier to aid in F-150 production increase

Ford’s risky, aluminum-employing new F-150 is a hit—so much so that the company is calling in reinforcements to meet production demand.

In addition to scaling back its customary summer break for factory workers, Ford, which builds the F-150 at its plant in Claycomo, inked a contract with Michigan-based Tower International Inc. to build frames for the new truck. Tower becomes the company’s second frames supplier, along with Mexic0-based Metalsa SA.
