First Clover Leaf Financial reports 70 percent profit jump

First Clover Leaf Financial Corp., the parent company of Edwardsville-based First Clover Leaf Bank, reported profits up almost 71 percent for the second quarter of its fiscal year. The company attributes the leap largely to an increase in commercial loans.

Year over year, commercial loans grew 13.6 percent, from $129 million to $147 million. However, First Clover Leaf reported loans overall were down slightly for the first half of the year.
