A-B InBev offer for SABMiller expected this week, Sunday Times reports

Anheuser-Busch InBev could bid $106 billion for SABMiller within days, and an opening offer could come as soon as Monday morning, the Sunday Times reported. The British publication also reports that the two brewers have begun “friendly” talks.

The proposed merger between A-B InBev, the Belgian parent company of St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, and SABMiller, the London-based brewer of Peroni and Grolsch, would create a company that’s worth about $275 billion and produces a third of the world’s beer.

The deal, which is expected to face scrutiny from U.S. regulators, would be particularly important in growth markets Latin American, an A-B InBev stronghold, and Africa, which SABMiller dominates.
