A-B InBev gets extension for making formal offer for SABMiller

Regulators in the U.K. have granted Anheuser-Busch InBev another week to make a formal bid for fellow brewer SABMiller.

A-B InBev, the Belgian parent company of St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, and SABMiller, which is based in London, now have until Nov. 4 to secure shareholder support and financing for their proposed $106 billion deal, which would be the world’s largest acquisition this year.

The U.K. panel overseeing the process had already extended the deadline for the deal to Wednesday from its earlier deadline of Oct. 14. The companies announced earlier this month they had agreed in principle to the key terms of the merger.
