EC Manufacturing, which makes electrical components, has filed notice that it is laying off 351 workers at a Shawnee, Kan., facility it opened in 2013.

A local economic development official says the 351 workers represent a majority of EC’s workforce, but the official is not sure whether the business plans to close.

The company received incentives from the state of Kansas when it opened the Shawnee facility in 2013 with expectations of creating 252 jobs over three years and 400 jobs overall.
