Student group boycotts MU, continues call for president Wolfe to resign

Jonathan Butler, a University of Missouri graduate student, has pledged to continue a hunger strike until University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe is removed from his position.

The student group Concerned Student 1950, which is supporting Butler, announced Tuesday that supporters plan to stop spending money at MU until Wolfe is no longer the leader of the university system. The group has criticized Wolfe’s handling of recent incidents of racism on MU’s campus.

The group said it will boycott football games, purchases at the Student Center “and anything that brings the university extra money” until everything is resolved. If university won’t listen to the students’ voices, the group said, it can’t have their dollars.

Concerned Student 1950 and its allies are camped on the Carnahan Quadrangle and are using hashtag #BoycottUM on Twitter to spread their message. They also started a petition to remove Wolfe from office.
