The St. Louis Fashion Fund has found a location to serve as home to its signature project — a fashion incubator.
The Fashion Fund will lease space in the Art Lofts Building downtown. The St. Louis Fashion Incubator, which will house six “designers in residence” and provide mentors and business programming to help the designers succeed in the fashion industry, will occupy 5,000 square feet of space on the ground floor of the building and an additional 2,500 square feet on the mezzanine level.
To help fund the incubator, the Fashion Fund is launching a $2 million capital campaign — dubbed the Campaign for Fashion. The campaign was announced Wednesday night at the second annual Saint Louis Fashion Fund Gala at Union Station. Susan Sherman, chair of the Fashion Fund, said the organization already has raised $500,000 in pledges.
About $500,000 of the money raised from the campaign will be used for the renovation of the incubator space, with the remaining $1.5 million funding three years of operating costs (estimated at $500,000 annually).
