Thanksgiving air travel to hit 8-year high, industry group says

Air travel this Thanksgiving is projected to rise 3 percent over last year, with 25.3 million passengers expected to hop a plane for the holiday, according to a release from airline industry group Airlines for America.

That would mark the largest Thanksgiving passenger total in eight years.

The uptick in travelers during the 12-day travel period, which runs Nov. 20 through Dec. 1, would add up to about 65,000 more passengers per day than in 2014.

Nov. 29, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, should be the busiest day of that window, according to the release.
