A plan revealed last week that calls for a $68.5 million office tower in downtown Clayton is just the first piece of a larger proposal that would bring hotel, retail, residential and other projects to the St. Louis County community.

Apogee Associates, an affiliate of Crest Management, submitted plans to city officials for a development that could include a 230-room hotel, residential units, more than 200,000 square feet of office space, restaurants, shopping and an arena and amphitheater.

The plan follows Clayton’s decision this year to seek private redevelopment of some city-owned properties.

City officials could begin studying the proposals this month.
