Maryville University to launch sports entrepreneurship program

Maryville University in St. Louis announced Thursday that it will start an academic concentration in sports entrepreneurship and an investment in St. Louis-based sports business innovation hub Stadia Ventures beginning next year.

The entrepreneurship concentration area, which is sponsored by the Rawlings Sport Business Management program, will allow students to serve internships and build experience with Stadia Ventures.

Stadia Ventures plans on raising $4 million after collecting $1.06 million from seven investors.

Art Chou, a former senior vice president of products for Rawlings who leads Stadia, will teach the courses at Maryville.
