St. Louis approves financing package for new football stadium

The St. Louis Board of Aldermen on Friday approved the city’s public financing package for a $1.11 billion Mississippi riverfront stadium.

Aldermen voted 17-0 to give final approval to the plan, worth $145.4 million, not including interest, plus some $3 million per year in amusement taxes that will go to the National Football League.

The debate will now move from aldermanic chambers to the NFL and its 32 team owners.
