Amtrak travel dips in Missouri amid low gas prices

Ridership in Missouri in 2015 slid 5.3 percent from 2014, in large part due to lower gas prices, according to Amtrak.

Missouri’s state-supported River Runner between St. Louis and Kansas City lost 10,000 riders from 2014 to 2015, with about 179,000 for the year that ended Sept. 30.

Amtrak may continue to face competition with lower gas prices in the next year, with prices about 24 cents below what they were a year ago, according to AAA.
