Fueled by continued strong ticket sales, the record Powerball jackpot has grown to $1.5 billion, the Associated Press reports, and officials estimate the pot could grow more before Wednesday’s drawing.
The $1.5 billion prize could be paid out as an annuity over 29 years, or it could be taken in a lump-sum payment of $930 million before taxes.
Odds of winning the grand prize are one in 292.2 million, Powerball says. Chances of claiming a $4 prize for correctly picking the Powerball, meanwhile, are a more favorable 1 in 38.32.
