Jackson County union official admits to embezzlement

For the second time in two years, a president of the union that represents Jackson County corrections employees has admitted to embezzling money from the union.

Lowell Wreh waived his right to a grand jury on Wednesday and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to wire fraud. Wreh’s predecessor, Jesse E. Morgan, pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2014 and is currently serving a federal prison sentence.

Federal prosecutors say Wreh admitted to stealing $7,642 while serving as president of the union. He was dismissed from his position in August 2014 and is awaiting sentencing.
