St. Louis County moves forward on plant science district in Creve Coeur

Seeking to cultivate a hub for innovation in the plant sciences, St. Louis County has hired an architecture and planning firm to oversee development of a 575-acre district in Creve Coeur.

The development would build around existing plant science assets in the area, including the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, the Bio-Research & Development Growth Park and the Helix Center Biotech Incubator. Monsanto Co. also makes its headquarters in the area.

Baltimore-based Ayers Saint Gross, which created the master plan for the Cortex bioscience and technology district in St. Louis, is developing the master plan for the plant science district.

St. Louis County won a $500,000 federal grant last year to fund creation of a master plan for the district.
