A-B InBev to sell SABMiller’s Peroni, Grolsch brands in $3.5 billion deal

Japan’s Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. is closing in on a $3.5 billion deal to buy two of SABMiller’s top European brands.

Anheuser-Busch InBev announced in December that it would be seeking buyers for the Peroni and Grolsch brands to help clear the way for regulatory approval of its pending $107 billion acquisition of SABMiller.

The deal would be the largest overseas acquisition for Asahi, which is Japan’s top brewer, and would give the company a larger footprint outside the country.
