Kansas City-based law firm Polsinelli is preparing to acquire a majority of the intellectual property attorneys and staff at Houston-based firm Novak Bruce.
Russ Welsh, the chairman and CEO of Polsinelli, said his firm has approved a mass lateral acquisition, and that the exact number of attorneys joining the Kansas City firm would be determined in the coming weeks.
Welsh said the group brought to Polsinelli will include top management from Novak Bruce. A member of the Houston firm’s executive committee said the “vast majority” of lawyers and staff from the firm — which has about 80 lawyers — will be joining Polsinelli.
The deal aligns with Polsinelli’s strategic plan of being a national firm focused on IP and IP litigation, among a number of other disciplines, Welsh said in a statement.
