Olin names 30-year company veteran Fischer to succeed CEO Rupp

Olin Corp., the Clayton-based ammunition and chemical maker, has named John Fischer to succeed Joseph Rupp as its chief executive officer.

Fischer, 60, has worked for Olin for 30 years, ascending to his current role as vice president and chief operating officer in 2014. Before that, he was the company’s chief financial officer from 2005 to 2014.

Rupp, 65, has served as CEO since 2002 and chairman since 2005. He will remain Olin’s chairman, and Fischer will be nominated for election to the company’s board, Olin said.

The leadership change will take effect May 1.
