Chesterfield makes list of top cities for money management

According to a new report from the financial data website WalletHub, Chesterfield, Mo. is among the best U.S. metropolitan areas for consumer money management, coming in at No. 25 on the list.

Analysts compared 2,570 cities based on eight key metrics that speak to consumers’ ability to keep their finances in order:


  • Credit Score
  • Credit-Card Debt-to-Income Ratio
  • Mortgage Debt-to-Income Ratio
  • Car-Loan Debt-to-Income Ratio
  • Student-Loan Debt-to-Income Ratio
  • Average Number of Late Payments
  • Average % of Credit Used
  • Foreclosure Rate

The metrics were then compiled to give each city an overall score.

Data used to create the rankings were collected from TransUnion and Renwood RealtyTrac.
