Laclede Group seeks name change

Laclede Group, one of St. Louis’ largest publicly traded companies, is seeking a name change, according to a preliminary disclosure filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The St. Louis-based company that owns Laclede Gas, Missouri Gas Energy and Alagasco scheduled a special shareholders meeting April 28 to vote on a new name for the holding company.

A name change, Laclede said in the filing, will help with some of the company’s strategic goals, including expanding its geography and eventually rebranding all of its subsidiaries under the same name.
