$200M Lee’s Summit youth sports project gets incentives

The Lee’s Summit City Council has voted unanimously to approve $13 million in tax increment financing for Paragon Star, a mixed-use project to be anchored by a youth sports complex.

The TIF approval follows the City Council’s recent passage of two other incentives — transportation development district and community improvement district sales tax surcharges — to help finance the project’s $212 million first phase.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin this summer, with play on the fields expected to begin in fall 2017.
