Futuristic McDonald’s set to open in St. Joseph

A new futuristic McDonald’s featuring kiosk ordering, customizable burgers and unlimited French fries will come to St. Joseph this summer, local franchise owners recently unveiled.

The new 6,500-square-foot McDonald’s of the future will be the first one of its kind in the country and is expected to open in July.

Owner Chris Habinger and his wife, Karri Habinger, say a lot has changed for McDonald’s in the last 40 years. And as customers connect with smart devices and social media, food choices, too, have evolved.

Habinger noted that the new ordering kiosks are meant only to enhance customer experience and will not replace actual employees. He said the restaurant plans to hire 85 new employees in the next several months.
