HCA Midwest Health announced Wednesday that it is investing $93 million to expand patient care at Research Medical Center, Centerpoint Medical Center and Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
The biggest investment, $59 million, will go to Centerpoint and will include three new floors. About $23 million will go to Research Medical Center for expansion of the critical care unit and $11 million will go to Lee’s Summit Medical Center, which will get a new third floor for medical and surgical care.
M.L. Lagarde III, president of HCA Midwest Health, said the investment “is in addition to the more than $1 billion capital investment we’ve made in this community since 2005.”
HCA employs about 9,000 in the Kansas City area, where it owns seven hospitals, plus outpatient centers, clinics, surgery centers and physician practices.
