Hostess Brands buys another baking company

In its first acquisition since returning the Hostess brand to the market, Kansas City-based Hostess Brands on Monday announced the purchase of Superior Cake Products, maker of premium baked goods.

Hostess Brands, bought in bankruptcy proceedings by investors for $410 million in 2013, said the acquisition was influenced by rapidly expanding bakery sales.
