Enterprise buys vRide van commuting business

Enterprise Holdings has acquired a Michigan-based ride-sharing company vRide, a sharing platform for commuters that uses vans.

Enterprise purchased vRide from private equity firm TPG Growth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Enterprise Holdings Vice President Ryan Johnson will head the vRide operations, which has 8,000 vehicles in its fleet and 65,000 customers nationwide.

“Local transportation infrastructure and urban mobility options have become much more complex, diverse and competitive in the current marketplace,” Johnson said in a statement. “As a result, we look forward to combining our complementary assets and further advancing vRide’s expertise, ride-sharing platform and brand recognition, all of which will benefit American commuters and consumers for the long term.”
