Missouri is waiving its 4.225% state sales tax for the weekend of August 4 & 5 on items pertaining to back-to-school shopping only, meaning practicality is the name of the purchasing game. The back-to-school Corvette purchase will have to wait. Also, don’t expect other Missouri municipalities to fall in line with the state government’s generosity, the Jefferson City News Tribune says:
Most Missouri cities and counties that impose local sales taxes are not participating in the tax savings for back-to-school shoppers.
