The St. Louis Swap Meet is having a grand opening of its riverfront location below the Gateway Arch this weekend. The new monthly event is a partnership of the St. Louis Swap Meet and Great Rivers Greenway.
The vendors’ fair will continue to meet every first and last Sunday of the month on Cherokee Street, where it started last year. It will be on the riverfront the third Saturday and Sunday through October.
Mel Lambert, one of the swap meet organizers, says she hopes the event will be a weekend stop for locals and tourists alike.
“It’ll be a little more intimate. It’s going to be a lot more of the handmade items from people in St. Louis. We just really want the marketplace to be a place where people can come down, hang out, eat, chill, and shop down on the riverfront.”
This weekend’s events will include life-size foosball games put on by the Great American Human Foosball of St. Louis, local vendors and food and beverage options. The market is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
