Shareholders of Kansas City-based Great Plains Energy Inc. and Topeka, Kan.-based Westar Energy Inc. will vote on the companies’ proposed $8.6 billion merger at simultaneous meetings next month.
Shareholders meetings are set for 10 a.m. Sept. 26.
Great Plains shareholders will meet at the company’s One Kansas City Place headquarters. Westar shareholders will meet at 10 a.m. in Heritage Hall at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka.
The proposed merger is under review by the Kansas Corporation Commission and requires other regulatory approvals.
