LaunchCode has promoted Mark Bauer, who had been working as vice president of operations for the past year, as successor to current executive director Brendan Lind, who is leaving the organization to focus on new opportunities.
Bauer is a former vice president of product management and tech operations at Host Analytics, the cloud-based service provider founded by local entrepreneur Jim Eberlin (now CEO of TopOPPS). Bauer is also co-founder and owner of American Fire Sprinklers.
LaunchCode was initially founded as a way to place non-traditional workers in technology jobs across St. Louis. The organization has since expanded with educational programs that teach coding to computer programming novices with the idea that after they complete LaunchCode’s training, they’d be ready for a job in one of LaunchCode’s partner companies.
In June, the organization received a portion of $8.4 million in U.S. Department of Labor grants that will help LaunchCode set up operations in Seattle and in Portland, Oregon.
“We’re in an exciting phase of growth at LaunchCode, and I am confident that our team, led by current VP of Operations Mark Bauer…will build on the momentum of the past year as we continue to expand to serve more companies, communities and candidates,” Jim McKelvey, founder of LaunchCode, said in a statement.
