KC delivers final $7M piece to UMKC Conservatory fundraising

The Kansas City Council has signed off on a delivery of $7 million for the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s conservatory in downtown Kansas City, providing the final chunk of financing to trigger a match of state funds.

The amount brings the total fundraising to $48 million, which now means the $96 million Conservatory of Music and Dance project is eligible for $48 million in matching state money.

Several university communities have taken advantage of the program, state Sen. Ryan Silvey (R-Kansas City) said recently, though the $48 million for UMKC is the largest amount of matching funding requested so far.
