Warm Weather Brightens Great Plains Energy’s Quarterly Outlook

Great Plains Energy (GXP), the holding company for Kansas City Power & Light Company, posted a 25 percent increase in second quarter earnings compared to second quarter 2011, citing the unusually warm weather.

The utility company’s earnings per share increased to 41 cents per share, up from 31 cents per share in the same quarter last year.

The company’s stock dropped 2 percent in midday trading to $18.72 from a previous close of $19.09.
