Ajay Vinzé, a professor and administrator at Arizona State University, will become the new dean of the University of Missouri’s Trulaske College of Business, the school announced Friday.
Vinzé has worked at Arizona State since 1998, according to a press release. He holds a distinguished professorship and serves as associate dean of international programs and associate vice provost for graduate education at Arizona State’s business school.
Effective Jan. 1, Vinzé will replace Stephen Ferris, who has served as interim dean of MU’s business school since the summer of 2015. Joan Gabel was the school’s dean from 2010 until 2015, when she left to become provost at the University of South Carolina.
Vinzé has conducted academic research on subjects including data analytics, emergency preparedness and response, disruptive innovation, the economic value of information and computer technology investments, and collaborative computing, according to the release.
His experience in the private sector includes serving on the board of directors for ISSC, a Taiwanese microchip company, and managing a team that implemented a support system and database for distribution of more than 1.5 million doses of the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine.
Before Arizona State, Vinzé spent 10 years on the faculty at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead a vibrant business school like the Trulaske College of Business,” Vinzé said in the press release. “I am looking forward, with great enthusiasm, to joining the Mizzou family and working with high caliber faculty, dedicated staff and a wonderful student body.”
