Union fails to get enough votes among Express Scripts employees

A union effort to organize some employees of Express Scripts has fallen short for the second time.

Not enough employees voted in favor of union representation, company and union officials said Wednesday. The final vote was 100 for representation and 245 against.

This was the second attempt by District 837 of the International Association of Machinists to organize pharmacy technicians and clerks at the Express Scripts headquarters in north St. Louis County.

The employees have expressed unhappiness with wages and overtime, among other issues.

Express Scripts is the nation’s leading pharmacy benefit manager and one of the biggest employers in the St. Louis area.
